History
Formed in 1987, BSG began in its trading history as an IT reseller, selling hardware and software to its clients in London and the South East. BSG is now an Advanced Computer Software Plc Group Company (ACS), focussing on the delivery of managed services, application development and Software as a Service (SaaS), utilising its application development capabilities as a unique differentiator to create exceptional business advantage for their customers.
In 1996, whilst most of the reseller community continued to focus on hardware, BSG made the strategic decision to focus on managed services and as a core part of the business, offering managed and hosted data centre solutions to its customers. Since this time a number of key decisions have been made, such as the acquisition by ACS underlining, the group's continued strategic push into the managed services and SaaS arena:
- 2000 - purchased Webgenerics Ltd - a provider of hosting and ASP software
- 2000 - the Group floated on the London Stock Exchange in July 2000 as a constituent of the TechMark Index, raising £15m to finance the ongoing development of the group
- 2001 - purchase of the Experience Design team of Atomic Tangerine, which extended the user experience capabilities of the consulting practice
- 2004 - acquisition of the managed hosting and IT maintenance services of GNS Europe Ltd
- 2009 - acquired by ACS Plc to focus on managed services, application development and SaaS
Today, managed services and SaaS remain the core of the BSG strategy and over the last 10 years BSG has developed into one of the leading providers of Managed Services to the mid-market, currently providing managed services for a multitude of mid-market organisations, including: Vail Williams, Morgan Sindall, the Newspaper Licensing Agency, and Charles Stanley Stockbrokers.
With its combined capabilities and the wealth of experience which accompanies a solid trading history, BSG is proud to be one of the few outsource providers who can truly offer to design, deploy, operate and improve an entire IT solution for any of its clients.
