BSG Forum (Software as a Service)
The Challenge
Leading CIO’s are now starting to make Software as a Service (SaaS) an important part of their IT portfolio. As an organisation you are only too aware that IT skills constraints are not diminishing. Inserting SaaS into that mix gives organisations a lot more budget and staffing flexibility than they had before, enabling them to cut costs and focus resources on other areas of the business, specifically those that offer real business benefits.
The Solution
BSG Forum is a core part of BSG’s managed services offerings, enabling applications to be delivered to our customers as a service, hosted and managed from BSG’s secure Tier IV data centres. These applications can be existing legacy applications, new applications being developed by BSG, or other new applications delivered as a service.
BSG Forum offers customers the opportunity to make the transition to an on-demand model with minimal risk and upfront investment in new technologies and skills. BSG currently works with a range of ISVs as a provider of SaaS to our customers, including COINS and EDB, as well as delivering a number of core Microsoft applications, such as Exchange and SharePoint, as a managed service.
BSG Forum enables organisations to:
- Reduce costs for technology. For users of all sizes from SMB’s to FTSE 200 companies, the SaaS advantage is a monthly fee to access applications instead of having to invest thousands or millions to create and maintain IT infrastructure.
- Shorter implementation cycles compared to a typical in-house rollout of technology.
- The company can focus on its "core competency" instead of implementing and maintaining hardware, software, help desk, and other internal IT issues.
- Eliminates or reduces recruiting, retaining and retraining IT personnel.
- Guaranteed "up time". Most SaaS solutions can provide this guarantee because they invest in high-end hardware and operating environments.
- Affordable access to current technology and tier-one business applications.
- SaaS solutions provide "one-stop shopping" in which a company can take care of all IT needs in one place.
- SaaS users do not have to pay for licenses for the software they use, install, upgrade, or fix.
- Full integration of multiple applications and software upgrades is provided.
- The customer benefits from economies of scale.
