Managed Exchange Email and Collaboration Service - Service Description
For most organisations today, email is their most widely used application. However, the core environment is often extended to deliver related services such as mobile messaging through Blackberrys and Windows Mobile Devices, as well as being integrated into other applications such as portals, document management systems and ERP solutions.
BSG's Managed Email Service allows you to create a unique solution that works the way you do whilst still providing the economies of scale which you would normally find in a "one size fits all" managed solution.
Your Standard End User Experience:
Microsoft Outlook 2007 - installed on all your computers (desktops, laptops, tablet PC's etc), with the latest service pack and/or hot fixes (including junk mail filters), enabling you to access your email
Access to email via the Outlook 2007 client or the Outlook Web Access client, enabling:
- Access to a calendar and to delegated calendars
- Access to personal and public tasks
- Access to personal and public contacts
- Access to local (Outlook 2007 client-based) journaling
- Access to local (Outlook 2007 client-based) rules and archiving
- Offline access to mailbox and calendar data (using Outlook 2007 cached-mode)

Encrypt and record the conversations your staff are having both within the organisation and with external third parties

- Backup and recovery of mailboxes within an agreed SLA to ensure that you can always recover information when necessary
- Monitoring and reporting on the managed Exchange Server infrastructure, using Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM). Historic reporting on usage as well as predictive reporting for capacity planning and analysis to ensure that the environment is always sized to your needs
- 99.99% Service Level Agreement - A guarantee of application availability
Platform
The platform operating your Managed Email Service is best of breed using the latest Microsoft software, world class hardware and an industry leading Storage Area Network:
- Microsoft Exchange email environment which is dedicated to your organisation. This is fully clustered and integrated with your own Active Directory environment. It is capable of supporting an initial 2000 users but scalable beyond this
- Storage provided via a scalable and highly resilient Storage Area Network (SAN) solution
- Provide a mailbox to suit all types of organisations and users
- Microsoft ISA Server to manage secure access to Outlook Web Access
- Patching of the Windows Server operating system and the Exchange Server application (using SMS and / or WSUS)
- Anti-virus scanning and Spam control of the Windows Server operating systems installed on the Exchange Servers and the domain controllers as well as boundary-level messaging, anti-virus scanning using MessageLabs
- Backup of the managed Exchange Server infrastructure (Exchange Server servers + domain controllers) using Symantec NetBackup. The backup service includes use of dedicated backup media, verification of the backups and offsite storage of the backup media
- Perimeter firewalls to protect all inbound traffic from the Internet
- If your solution is hosted within BSG's Tier 1 data centre environment, a WAN link can also be made available connecting one or more of your offices/permanent locations to the BSG Tier 1 data centre environment. This can be designed, deployed and managed by BSG
