Aligning Business and Technology
When you engage BSG to align your business and technology objectives, the first thing you will be asked is: What do you want to achieve? To help you answer this question, BSG has created the Business Efficiency process. This modular process includes the Business Forum to identify key business drivers and the Technical Design to create your technical solution to meet those business drivers. These modules can be undertaken as a whole or individually. BSG then give you choice on how your solution is operated.

Business Efficiency
The Business Efficiency process is a business and technology assessment of an organisation's existing technical environment to establish where additional functionality and systems integration can be derived to better deliver on key business objectives. This assessment is designed to leverage existing infrastructures to re-engineer, not to reinvent, an existing technical infrastructure. The result is a detailed IT strategy document. The value your organisation gains from the Business Efficiency process is that it:
- Defines a strategy to turn a range of disparate technologies into a set of BSG Solutions that offer real business value.
- Derives maximum business benefit and return from an organisation's technology investment.
- Ensures that IT is a cost effective business service rather than a 'black hole' where value is difficult to assess.
Business Forum
The Business Forum provides business analysis that allows identification and recognition of key business drivers and defines technology BSG Solutions to meet defined business needs. This 'Forum' driven process collectively engages Business Directors and Managers as well as the Technology decision makers. The output from this process is a set of clearly defined technologies mapped against the agreed key business objectives. The value your organisation gains from the Business Forum process is that it:
- Clearly aligns business objectives with technology strategy and investment.
- Provides the business with a defined stake in the IT design process.
- Links business processes and culture with the appropriate technology to maximise the return from technology investments.
Technical Design
The purpose of the Technical Design process is to develop effective and efficient technical designs using industry best practice and proven tools. This includes the production of achievable and low risk implementation plans and options to deploy the proposed designs. BSG's direct access to leading market vendors (such as Microsoft, IBM, HP, Sun, Cisco, Citrix etc) and analysts will provide further independent technical ratification where necessary. Designs will be completed in collaboration with the client. Ownership of the final design document rests with the client. The value your organisation gains from the Business Forum process is that:
- Designs are produced by expert and experienced industry specialists focused on providing vendor independent advice and proposals.
- Clearly defined implementation plans in the design ensure the implementation is achievable within agreed budgets and timescales.
- Detailed designs are developed to be as "future proof" as possible.
